Rawlplug Academy. Mission: Portugal

Another Rawlplug training and education centre open. This time, Marcin Gorzała and Tomasz Hojka, two nice guys who are typically assigned special tasks made some noise in Porto. They are back and report: the Portuguese are awesome!

Yes, it was noise they made, since our experts, regularly based in Wrocław, rolled up their sleeves straight upon their arrival to the sun-bathed Portugal and got on with adapting one of the most atypical spaces they had been dealing with to the requirements of Rawlplug Academy.

In Porto, the conference room where theoretical training sessions usually take place is located higher than the ground floor. So we needed a corresponding space for hands-on training. We decided to arrange it under the warehouse mezzanine. We set up a pylon at the centre of this room to demonstrate the complementary nature of our offering with all the matching power tools, accessories and fixing products.

Porto – not chosen at random

After several days of work, Marcin and Tomek, supported by the Portuguese team, managed to develop the chosen space for a fully functional training centre, by no means inferior to those based in Wrocław, London, Prague or Milan.

“The whole time we could count on the help of our energetic Portuguese colleagues, led by the most friendly and lovely Jose,” says Tomasz Hojka, Rawlplug’s Product Trainer. “The entire team was very focused on the job, so our cooperation was a sheer pleasure.”

The choice of Porto for the Rawlplug Academy centre was by all means intentional and informed. It is Porto, and not Lisbon, that functions as Portugal’s main industry and business hub. This is also where the biggest investments in the country are allocated, and so the most potential customers set their headquarters in Porto.

Spaniards most welcome

Targeting our customers and employees, our original education and development programme known as Rawlplug Academy makes Rawlplug’s offering truly complete. Both classroom and hands-on training sessions address such topics as facade insulation fixings, bonded anchors, mechanical anchors, lightweight fixings, foams and sealants, manual and direct fastening systems, power tools and their matching accessories.

The Academy operations comprise not only the workshops held at the training centres, but also traditional training and webinars. For these purposes, we have already set up similar venues in London, Wrocław, Paris, Milan and Prague.

I think the biggest challenge facing us when designing and developing the Rawlplug Academy centre in Portugal was the facility’s bilingual character,” Says Marcin Gorzała. “Both the training materials and the entire centre infrastructure can serve Portuguese as well as Spanish speaking customers. This allows us to train there not only customers from Portugal, but also those coming from Spain.
